How much does Google Ads management cost?

Most agencies charge a fixed monthly fee, a percentage of ad spend, or a mix of the two. Ours starts from HK$5,000 a month, with ad spend paid to Google separately.

The two costs

There are always two parts to the bill. Ad spend is what you pay Google for clicks. The management fee is what you pay someone to run the account.

Ad spend should be billed to you directly by Google, on your own card or invoice. If an agency wants to pay Google and re-bill you, ask why.

Common pricing models

  • Fixed monthly fee: the same amount each month, agreed up front. Easy to budget for.
  • Percentage of ad spend: the fee rises as you spend more. Simple, but it can reward spending over results.
  • Hybrid: a base fee plus a percentage above a certain spend.
  • Performance-based: a fee tied to leads or sales. Rare, and only works when tracking is solid.

What affects the price

The size of the account matters most: how many campaigns, products and markets there are. Shopping accounts with large catalogues take more work than a single lead generation campaign.

Competition matters too. Busy markets need more testing and closer management to keep costs under control.

What should be included

  • An audit before anything changes
  • Conversion tracking that records real leads or sales
  • Weekly checks on search terms, budgets and bids
  • A monthly report that shows spend, results and what changed

FAQs

Is ad spend included in the management fee?

Not usually. Ad spend is paid to Google directly and the management fee is separate.

Is a percentage of ad spend a bad model?

Not always, but it can encourage higher spend. A fixed fee keeps the focus on results.

What's a red flag in a quote?

Long minimum terms, no access to your own account, and reports that only show clicks.
